Belarusian citizens injured in the road traffic accident in Batumi remain in medical facilities, Belarus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, the state news agency BelTA reported.
“Belarusian citizens injured in the tragic road traffic accident, including minors, remain in medical facilities in Batumi. The Georgian side is providing them with all necessary medical care,” the ministry said.
As previously reported, the accident occurred on the morning of July 25 at the intersection of Gorgiladze and Vazha-Pshavela streets. According to Georgian media, a tourist minibus and a passenger car collided. Following the impact, the minibus overturned, while the passenger car crashed into the wall of the Batumi Art University.
The minibus was carrying a tour group from Belarus. Two people were killed in the crash — a woman born in 1983 and a man born in 1963. Another 12 people sustained moderate and minor injuries and were hospitalized.
Witnesses said the impact was so severe that some passengers were thrown from the minibus.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs is investigating the incident under Article 276 of the Criminal Code, which covers violations of road traffic safety rules.
