Russia is redirecting agricultural exports to alternative routes amid Ukrainian attacks on Novorossiysk. Russia’s Agriculture Ministry has proposed additional measures to support exporters.
“To ensure supplies, the Agriculture Ministry has proposed a package of additional support measures. Major exporters need to determine the volumes of products, primarily grain, taking into account the progress of the harvest campaign, that they will be able to purchase and ship, as well as establish specific supply routes,” the ministry said.
Exports are to be routed through ports in the Baltic and Caspian seas, the Far East, as well as overland routes.
On Wednesday, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the port of Novorossiysk. According to media reports, agricultural cargo handling infrastructure was damaged, as was the Novorossiysk Grain Terminal. Before that, Ukraine had carried out a series of strikes on vessels in the Sea of Azov.
