The Prosecutor General’s Office has sent to the Minsk City Court another case related to bribery in the organization of concerts. This time, the defendant is a director of a house of culture who later headed a municipal enterprise. He is charged with taking bribes, including preparation for such a crime, under Part 1 of Article 430, Part 1 of Article 13 and Part 2 of Article 430 of the Criminal Code.
“According to the case materials, the accused, while serving as director of a house of culture of one of the enterprises, and from February 21, 2023 as director of a municipal service unitary enterprise, from February 1, 2022 to February 20, 2024 repeatedly received bribes from individual entrepreneurs for assistance in organizing and holding concerts, performances, other theatrical, entertainment and exhibition events at stage venues with the participation of professional groups, performers and authors represented by the bribe-givers,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
It is noted that at a meeting of an organizing committee of one of the state bodies, the accused presented information about “the activities of a specific individual entrepreneur related to attracting foreign artists to participate in cultural and entertainment events.” For this, according to the prosecution, he received 8,900 rubles.
The statement also says that the accused “ensured compensation to the republican budget of more than 34,000 rubles received in connection with the commission of corruption offenses. In particular, in the autumn of 2022 he received at least 10,000 Belarusian rubles, in the autumn of 2023 – at least 500,000 Russian rubles, and in the autumn of 2024 – at least another 150,000 Russian rubles.”
Last week, a case against a representative of a regional philharmonic society was also sent to court.
