The Prakopyeu-Yahorau Bloc will not take part in the Coordination Council elections.
“In the conditions of the continuing ‘political winter’ in the Republic of Belarus, the Bloc considers it important to form and develop sustainable national democratic structures abroad and expresses support for the institution of the Coordination Council itself.
At the same time, based on the experience of the Bloc’s representatives in all previous convocations, we do not see the possibility of achieving our own long-term goals, as well as the goals of the organisations we represent, through participation in the Coordination Council.
In this regard, a collective decision has been taken not to participate in the elections.
We wish the participants a successful election campaign and effective work”, a statement published by the bloc said.
Yesterday, Viktar Babaryka, on behalf of the organising committee of the Razam party, also announced that it would not participate in the election for the next composition of the Coordination Council.
It should be noted that at the end of February, the Prakopyeu-Yahorau Bloc announced its withdrawal from the third convocation of the Coordination Council, saying that this format had “completely exhausted its possibilities as a tool”.
Today is the final day for submitting electoral lists for participation in the Coordination Council elections. As of March 30, six groups had expressed interest in taking part: “European Choice”, “Law and Order”, “Latushka Coalition and the For Freedom Movement”, the Belarusian Political Prisoners Bloc “Belarus in Action”, “Enough Being Afraid!” and the United Civic Platform.
