Following a fatal minibus crash in Georgia, 15 injured people, including six children, remain under medical observation. Two patients are in serious but stable condition. This was reported by Giorgi Kikabidze, deputy director of Batumi Republican Hospital, on Belarus 1.
“Five of those admitted were adults and six were children. Of these six children, one was initially in serious condition: the child was diagnosed with an epidural brain hemorrhage and was therefore urgently admitted to the intensive care unit. His condition is currently being monitored dynamically. Fortunately, no surgical intervention was required. As of today, all patients remain in stable condition, and none of them has any abnormalities in vital parameters,” he said.
Eleven people are in Batumi, while another four patients are in hospitals in Ozurgeti and Chokhatauri.
Belarusian Health Minister Aliaksandr Khajayeu remains in constant contact with Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze. The Georgian minister personally visited the injured in hospitals in Batumi and Chokhatauri.
Belarus’ Ambassador to Georgia Mikalai Rahashchuk and the consul continue to coordinate work on the ground. Belarus’ Foreign Ministry said the ministry would provide the necessary assistance to the injured and the relatives of those killed.
The accident occurred on August 12. A minibus carrying Belarusian tourists veered off the road and fell into a gorge. Four Belarusian citizens were killed and another 15 people were injured, including six minors. Georgian police detained the minibus driver. A criminal case has been opened under an article concerning a violation of traffic rules that resulted in a person’s death.
