The Minsk Region Executive Committee will hold a competition for roadside straw figures. Such installations are traditionally put up across Belarus ahead of the Dozhinki harvest festival, which is held in every region.
According to the committee, the first installations will appear along roads in Minsk Region as early as Monday. Applications for the competition will be accepted from August 17 to September 1. The best figures will be selected next month.
To participate, contestants must create structures (compositions) made of straw; the use of other natural materials and decorative elements is permitted. The structure must consist of rolls or bales of straw at least 2.5 meters high and be placed in a publicly accessible location near public roads.
The competition winners will receive three prizes worth 70, 60 and 50 basic units. Another figure will be awarded based on the results of an online vote. Its creators will receive a prize of 50 basic units.
