As of 1 October, more than 230,000 foreign nationals were registered with the Interior Ministry of Belarus. The figures were reported by the head of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Interior Ministry, Ivan Novikau, as cited by BelTA.
“As of 1 October, more than 230,000 foreigners are registered with the territorial bodies of internal affairs. Among them, 167,000 are permanent residents. Some 63,000 have permits for temporary residence, including 24,000 who arrived for studies and more than 32,000 for employment,” he said.
Last year, on the same date, 21,000 foreign nationals were registered in the country for employment purposes.
