Political prisoner and lawyer Aliaksandr Danilevich announced that he has been released, publishing a photo of himself in front of the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Minsk.
“I’m home.”, he wrote on Facebook.
Aliaksandr Danilevich was detained on May 20, 2022. Shortly before his arrest, he signed an anti-war appeal by lawyers and legal professionals regarding the actions in Ukraine. In April 2023, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Following an appeal, his sentence was reduced to six years. He was convicted of aiding calls for sanctions (Part 6 of Article 16 and Part 3 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code) and facilitating extremist activity (Part 1 of Article 361-4).
