Entertainment programmes for most of the capital’s graduates will be organised at four major venues. Liudmila Liakhnovich, first deputy chairperson of the Minsk City Executive Committee’s education committee, told Minsk-Novosti about this.

According to her, the ceremonial part with the presentation of graduation certificates will take place on June 12 in schools and gymnasiums. It is expected to begin at 19:00-20:00.

“Then the boys and girls will perform creative acts, the traditional farewell waltz and thank the teachers for being by their side throughout the 11 years of their growing up,” she said.

From midnight, graduation celebrations will continue at large venues, each of which will host graduates from one or several districts of Minsk. More than 2,700 people from Zavadski and Leninski districts will celebrate the end of school at Chyzhouka Arena, 4,500 graduates from Savetski, Tsentralny and Maskouski districts will gather at the Football Manege, 1,900 pupils from Pershamaiski and Partyzanski districts will celebrate at the Palace of Sports, and more than 900 pupils from Kastrychnitski District will be hosted by the Sports and Cultural Centre of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. Only 3,500 graduates of Frunzienski District will celebrate at their own educational institutions.

“The concert programme scenarios for the unified graduation celebrations will reflect the themes of the Year of the Belarusian Woman and the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. Creative performances and musical compositions will convey love for the country and foster among the younger generation a sense of patriotism and pride in Belarus. In addition, discos with modern hits will be organised for the young people, and Belarusian performers and youth bloggers will be invited to the celebrations. The graduation evenings are planned to conclude at dawn,” Liakhnovich said.
