A foreign national worked in Lida for several years using a fake pharmacist diploma, but the deception was uncovered when he applied for a new job.

In 2015, the 39-year-old man decided to apply for a position as a pharmacist at a private pharmaceutical company in Moscow. An acquaintance offered to arrange a fake diploma from a prestigious university for him. The man agreed and received a forged university diploma stating a specialisation in pharmacy. Using the document, he worked for three employers over the next nine years, the Investigative Committee said.

In 2019, the man moved to Belarus, obtained a residence permit and worked for an organisation in Lida. In April last year, he began looking for work in Hrodna and presented the fake diploma to a prospective employer. The employer found the document suspicious and initiated a check.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 380 for the use of a knowingly forged document granting rights. The man admitted guilt. The investigation is continuing.
