On March 11, the election commission received the first application to participate in the elections to the Coordination Council — from the list “European Choice.” The leader of the list is Valery Matskevich, and the head of the campaign staff is Alisa Ryzhychenka.

As reported by the press service of the Coordination Council, the documents were submitted in full. However, after a preliminary review, the commission requested clarification because the list does not comply with the gender quota. According to the election regulations, at least 40% of the candidates must be representatives of the least represented gender. In the case of “European Choice,” these are men.

“The election commission has sent a letter to the head of the ‘European Choice’ campaign staff asking to clarify the composition of the list by March 16, but we believe this is a minor oversight,” said Alena Prykhodzka, chair of the election commission.

“European Choice” is part of the faction of the same name that already exists in the Coordination Council. The list also provided confirmation of the faction’s vote as proof that it was submitted on its behalf.
