An unidentified individual approached a patrol vehicle of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate for Moscow’s North-Eastern Administrative District and threw an explosive device. As a result of the blast, one police officer was killed and another was injured.
According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moscow, “today at around 00:05, an unidentified person approached officers of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the North-Eastern Administrative District of the capital, who were in a patrol vehicle on duty at Savyolovsky Railway Station Square, after which an unidentified device detonated.”
Preliminary information indicates that one State Traffic Inspectorate officer sustained injuries incompatible with life. The second officer is receiving medical assistance and has been taken to a medical facility.
The attacker managed to flee the scene.
“At present, officers of the Moscow police, together with colleagues from other security agencies, are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and searching for the perpetrator. Comprehensive police forces have been deployed to determine his whereabouts, and operational search measures are underway,” the press service said.
The Telegram channel BAZA уточняет, что “the unidentified individual threw an explosive device at the police vehicle and moved to a safe distance – he filmed all of his actions on video.”
