The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus retroactively adopted a decision on the early termination of the powers of its member Dzmitry Aliaksandravich Zhuk. The document was signed on May 12, 2026, and published today on the National Legal Internet Portal.
“The powers of member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation Dzmitry Aliaksandravich Zhuk shall be considered prematurely terminated as of April 10, 2026,” the resolution states.
He was automatically stripped of his position as deputy chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic on International Affairs and National Security.
As previously reported, Dzmitry Zhuk was appointed information minister on April 9, 2026. Previously, he served as director and editor-in-chief of the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, an institution of the Presidential Administration.
He had been appointed to the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation from Minsk.
