Belarusian nuclear energy specialists have studied the experience of their Hungarian counterparts in nuclear power plant configuration management during the 9th meeting of the Belarusian-Hungarian working group, held in Hungary on 24–26 November. A key element of the meeting was familiarisation with practices applied at the Paks I NPP and in the construction project of the Paks II NPP, the Belarusian Energy Ministry said.

During the session, the Belarusian delegation examined the software systems used at Paks I for managing the life cycle of reactor units, the principles of interaction between the station’s structural divisions and research institutions and specialised agencies, as well as the alignment of these practices with international standards. Specialists involved in the Paks II project presented their own approaches used in the implementation of the new plant.

As part of the visit, participants also met with the Belarusian ambassador to Hungary, Uladzimir Ulakhovich. The parties noted positive dynamics in the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

NPP configuration management includes monitoring the condition of technological systems and reactor equipment, work related to operation and maintenance, as well as measures to extend the service life of structures and equipment components.
