Messages appeared in the “Belarusians of Warsaw” Telegram chat on July 8 reporting that a Belarusian man had been attacked with a knife on Aleja Solidarności 83/84 in Warsaw. According to participants in the chat, the man had asked a woman not to smoke near him.
“The situation was that the guy asked the woman not to smoke. She started screaming, saying he was some kind of Ukrainian. Then someone she knew came over, punched him in the face and lunged at him with a knife. That’s all I know so far,” one of the chat participants wrote.
Police arrived at the scene. According to messages posted in the chat, the attacker fled.
“She was shouting at him to run away. At the man who attacked him,” an eyewitness said.
There has been no official confirmation of the incident from the Polish police at the time of publication.
