Belarus will open an embassy in Naypyidaw, the Belarusian government’s press service said. The relevant resolution was signed by Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn. The embassy is scheduled to open by Nov. 1, 2026.
“The document was drafted to implement agreements reached with Myanmar at the highest level,” the press release said.
Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Myanmar were established on Sept. 22, 1999.
As reported earlier, Aliaksandr Lukashenka visited Myanmar the previous day. He held a one-on-one meeting with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing and proposed launching “a new stage in bilateral relations.”
In addition to Myanmar, Aliaksandr Lukashenka visited Russia, China and Indonesia during his “extended business trip.”
