Operations at Vilnius Airport were disrupted again overnight.
As LRT reports, flights at the airport were suspended at 2 a.m. after radar detected objects “characteristic of weather balloons” that could pose a threat to air traffic. Restrictions were lifted at 3:12 a.m.
During the restrictions, a flight from Copenhagen carrying 87 passengers was diverted. As a result, the morning flight to the Danish capital was cancelled.
The airport’s operations were previously disrupted on March 27. Since the beginning of the year, it has been temporarily closed six times because of smugglers’ weather balloons.
