Belarusian state TV channel STV has published a video featuring the fifth participant in the exchange between Belarus and Poland, but did not disclose his name.
The man handed over to Belarus can be seen in a report from the Pierarou–Białowieża checkpoint on the Belarusian-Polish border. He appears in the footage for a few seconds wearing a cap and a buff pulled over his face. In his hands, he carries a paper bag containing a gift from Lukashenka, which was presented to each person in Belarus.
The names of the other individuals handed over to the Belarusian side are known. They include Alexandru Balan, convicted in Moldova of treason and a former deputy head of Moldova’s Information and Security Service, and Belarusian Uladzislau Nadzieika, detained in Poland on espionage charges. The channel directly refers to them as “our intelligence officers.” In the video, Balan thanked the people of Belarus and Lukashenka “for the outstretched hand.” Also handed over were Russian archaeologist Aleksandr Butyagin and Russian citizen Nina Popova, detained in Moldova.
Belarus handed over to Poland journalist Andrzej Poczobut (Andrei Pachobut), monk Grzegorz Gaweł, and Tomasz Beroza, who had been convicted on espionage charges. As part of the exchange, Russia handed over to Moldova two Moldovan intelligence officers detained in the Russian Federation.
