Two cases of poisoning involving young children have been recorded in the Brest region, the State Forensic Examination Committee reports.
In Liakhavichy, a two-year-old child entered a garage in the yard of a house and found a bottle from a carbonated drink containing liquid. Mistaking it for a soft drink, the toddler took a sip. The liquid turned out to be engine cleaner, which the father had brought into the garage the previous day. The child was hospitalised with signs of poisoning.
In Ivatsevichy, a three-year-old girl took a blister pack of pills from a kitchen cabinet and swallowed them. Her parents immediately took their daughter to hospital, where she underwent gastric lavage. The girl’s life is not in danger.
