Prime Minister Alyaksandr Turchyn held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov on March 6.
The sides exchanged views on the situation in the region and expressed mutual concern over the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
Asadov informed Turchyn about “Iran’s attacks against Azerbaijan using unmanned aerial vehicles,” the Azerbaijani government’s press service said.
“Alyaksandr Turchyn expressed concern over the incident in Nakhchivan and sincere support for the leadership of Azerbaijan and the friendly Azerbaijani people,” the Belarusian government’s press service said.
Turchyn and Asadov confirmed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region and spoke in favor of returning the situation to the diplomatic track as soon as possible.
They also discussed prospects for developing cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan, including the schedule of bilateral events at the highest and high levels and the implementation of a number of specific projects.
Earlier, drones exploded near the airport in Nakhchivan. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack and accused Iran, while Iranian officials said they had not attacked Azerbaijani territory.
