Belarus’s Forestry Ministry has completed its assessment of damage caused by severe weather between June 29 and July 1. Strong winds damaged more than 2,700 hectares of forest. Clear-cutting is required on 1,100 hectares, while selective sanitary logging will be carried out on another 1,600 hectares.
A total of 14 forestry enterprises were affected, mainly in the Hrodna, Minsk and Homiel regions.
The clear-cutting operations are scheduled to be completed by Nov. 1.
