A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Viktar Karankevich is on a visit to Uzbekistan.
On July 20, the delegation met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.
The sides discussed ways to strengthen Belarusian-Uzbek relations and strategic partnership, and noted the productive outcomes of Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Minsk on July 8–9.
“Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of the strict and timely implementation of the adopted Action Plan, which provides for increasing bilateral trade to $2 billion and actively advancing cooperation projects in key sectors of the economy,” the Belarusian government’s press service reported.
The parties also discussed the possibility of applying Belarusian expertise and competencies to the construction of Uzbekistan’s first nuclear power plant.
“This includes expert support during the design, construction and operation of the future plant, training national specialists for the sector, and launching joint programmes between профильными universities,” the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.
