A resident of Svyetlahorsk, Hleb Panasiuk, left Poland for Belarus on 8 October and disappeared. He has been found in the Homyel pre-trial detention center, Homyelskaya Viasna reports.
The 34-year-old Panasiuk had lived and worked in Poland for several years. He last contacted friends living in Poland on 9 October, saying he was at the railway station in Brest and planned to take a train toward Svyetlahorsk.
According to a source in the detention center cited by Homyelskaya Viasna, Panasiuk is currently being held in Pre-Trial Detention Center No. 3 in Homyel. Before that, he served a term in the Homyel temporary detention facility under an administrative case. Human rights defenders say his detention is politically motivated.
