The State Control Committee of the Mahiliou region inspected eight retail outlets in the Bykhau, Krychau and Mahiliou districts. Violations were found in almost every store.

In two privately owned shops, inspectors discovered excessive price markups. Retail markups on imported wafers, cookies, caramel candies, apples and tomatoes exceeded the permitted level by more than two times. During the inspection, prices were brought into compliance with legal requirements, the State Control Committee said.

Five stores were found selling expired products, including bakery items, confectionery and sausage products. In some cases, the goods had expired 150 days earlier. The products were removed from sale.

Almost every store also failed to comply with the mandatory assortment list, with items such as salt, eggs, sour cream and apples missing from shelves.

Orders and recommendations were issued to the violators, and measures were taken to eliminate the shortcomings.
