Russia does not rule out holding future joint drills with Belarus to practice the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons. This was stated by Alexey Polishchuk, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second CIS Department, RIA Novosti reported.

He recalled that in June 2024, units of the Belarusian armed forces had already taken part in the second stage of Russia’s non-strategic nuclear forces exercises.

“During this stage, joint preparations for the combat use of non-strategic nuclear weapons were practiced. If necessary, such exercises may be held in the future. Planning the drills, their objectives, tasks and the means involved falls within the competence of the defense ministries of the two countries,” the Russian Foreign Ministry official said.
