Polish border guards detained two Lithuanian citizens who had come to collect contraband cigarettes transported from Belarus using a weather balloon.
The Lithuanians were caught red-handed in the Suraż municipality. They had come to collect 350 packs of cigarettes.
In recent days, border guards in Podlasie have intercepted a total of 1,760 packs of cigarettes worth 420,000 zlotys. All of them were sent into Poland using weather balloons.
Since the beginning of this year, 24 people involved in aerial smuggling have been detained.
