Traffic police officers in the Pinsk district used their service weapons to stop an Opel that had been reported stolen overnight. The car was spotted near the village of Kupiatychi.
According to the Interior Ministry, the driver ignored a signal to stop and tried to flee. A pursuit followed. The offender failed to respond to the officers’ demands and continued driving. Service weapons were used to stop the vehicle.
The driver was identified as a 30-year-old local resident without a driving licence. A medical examination showed that his blood alcohol level exceeded 1.3 per mille.
A criminal case has been opened over the car theft, and five administrative offence reports have been drawn up. The vehicle was taken to a secure car park, while the detainee was placed in a temporary detention facility.
