The Norwegian Swimming Federation will not host international competitions under the auspices of World Aquatics if athletes from Belarus and Russia are allowed to participate. Federation head Cato Bratbakk told Reuters.

“Our position is clear. We will not host any championships as long as Russian and Belarusian senior and junior competitors have full access, entry rights, and are permitted to use their flags and national anthems”, Bratbakk said.

It is worth recalling that World Aquatics restored full membership rights to Belarus and Russia and allowed Belarusian and Russian athletes to compete under their national flags.

Poland opposed the decision. The Polish Swimming Federation said that if the military situation does not change, athletes from Belarus and Russia will not be allowed to take part in the European Diving Championships, which will be held in Poland in 2027.
