The National Bank of Belarus has updated its rules for determining the validity and exchangeability of banknotes and coins. The resolution was signed by National Bank Chairman Raman Halouchanka.

Under the new rules, coins that were previously considered invalid for circulation may now be exchanged, provided that their denomination and identification as Belarusian coins can be determined unequivocally. This applies to worn coins, as well as coins with cuts, through-holes or traces of metal removal. Coins separated into their component parts — the ring and the core — are also eligible for exchange if both parts are present, including those reassembled with misalignment.

The National Bank also introduced new requirements for reproducing images of banknotes, the bank’s press service said. Images of both sides of a banknote may now be printed only on one side of a sheet of paper, and the reproduction must be either smaller than 75% or larger than 125% of the size of the genuine banknote.

The resolution will enter into force after its official publication.
