A heavy downpour hit Minsk, causing flooding on several streets across the city. According to the Minsk City Executive Committee’s Main Internal Affairs Directorate traffic police, flooding was reported on Ihar Luchanok Street near No. 2, Lenina Street, and at the intersections of Maskouskaya and Talstoi streets and Aeradromnaya and Chkalava streets. Traffic in these areas has been disrupted.

Public transport services in the city were repeatedly suspended because of flooding, Minsktrans said. On L. Talstoi Street under the overpass, trolleybus No. 23 and buses on routes No. 24, 43, 65, 85s, 151s and 429 were halted from 12:32 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. On Chkalava and Aeradromnaya streets, buses on routes No. 56, 73, 84, 93, 100 and 124 were halted from 12:44 p.m. to 12:57 p.m. On Nikoly Tesly Street, buses No. 53, 73 and 100 were halted from 12:46 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. On Mayakouskaha and Sonechnaya streets in the direction of Chyzheuskikh Street, trolleybuses No. 6 and 24 were halted from 1:03 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Drivers are advised to maintain a safe speed, avoid sudden manoeuvres and switch on dipped headlights when visibility deteriorates. Puddles should be crossed at a constant speed to avoid aquaplaning. Drivers are advised not to enter flooded sections of road, as this can cause hydrolock and engine damage. If it is impossible to continue driving, motorists should stop off the carriageway with their hazard warning lights switched on.
