The Ministry of Information of Belarus has updated the “Republican List of Extremist Materials.” Among other things, it added the Threads account of Belarusian singer Marharyta Liauchuk, who lives in Ukraine. The decision was made by the court of the Loyeu district of the Homiel region on Aug. 19.
The list also includes the Dev.by website, the Telegram channel “dev.by: Belarus’ Main IT News” and the @devby_insight_bot and @hello_devby_bot bots. The decision was issued by the court of the Liozna district of the Vitsyebsk region on Aug. 18.
In addition, YouTube resources of the “Green Belarus” alliance, as well as its website, Telegram channel and pages on Threads, Instagram and TikTok, were declared “extremist materials.”
The updated list also includes:
- the “Anastasia Kuhta Love is…” brochure and the logo of the “Anarchist Black Cross Belarus”;
- the @polesye_media page on Threads;
- the Instagram accounts chrysalismagazine, diya__info, homel_region, future_belarus, diana_kukisheva (D I A N A), “Mikalai Lepeshko”;
- the TikTok accounts “ZHYVE BELARUS!!”, @kolianikatia, @krocolila and @polesye_media;
- the Telegram channels “Death Penalty in Belarus,” “We Can Explain,” “Solovyinnyi Pomot” and “NOS.”
Belarus uses extremism charges to prosecute opponents of Aliaksandr Lukashenka and dissent more broadly, according to rights groups.
