Aliaksandr Lukashenka explained why Belarusians injured in the drone strike were sent back to Belarus despite Russia’s offer of assistance.

“We must treat our own people and our children ourselves. We have everything necessary for that. We are grateful to Russia for offering assistance. We can do it ourselves. Yesterday I instructed the minister accordingly. All the victims and injured people have been transferred — some to Homiel, while others will be sent to Minsk. We must provide their treatment,” Lukashenka said at a meeting on adjustments to the Armed Forces construction and development plan for 2026-2030.

He also spoke out against trips abroad.

“The others should be sent home. Let them play sports here,” he said.

Lukashenka also stated that the drone that struck the bus was Ukrainian and instructed officials to establish the truth about the incident.

As previously reported, eight people, including six children, were injured when a drone struck a bus carrying a children’s football team from Rechytsa. One person was killed. The injured were transported to Belarus. The remaining passengers have also returned home.
