A Belarusian truck driver arrived to unload cargo while intoxicated. He was detained and tried the following day. The man now faces deportation.
On July 29, a security guard at a company in Siemianowice Śląskie noticed that the truck driver had arrived for unloading while drunk and called the police.
Police determined that the 44-year-old Belarusian had a blood alcohol concentration of more than 4 promille. He was detained and, under an expedited procedure, was tried the following day for driving under the influence of alcohol, the police said.
The court sentenced the Belarusian to eight months’ imprisonment, suspended for a probation period of two years. He was also ordered to pay a fine of 7,000 zlotys (about $1,875) and contribute an additional 7,000 zlotys to the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance. Police have asked the Border Guard to deport the Belarusian from Poland.
