104 School Buses to Be Purchased With State Funds for the New School Year

A total of 104 school buses will be purchased with funds from the national budget to transport children to schools ahead of the new academic year. Preparations for the upcoming school year were discussed today at a government meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Natallia Piatkevich.

The meeting was attended by the leadership of the Education Ministry, Health Ministry, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Interior Ministry, Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Bellegprom state concern, Belkaapsayuz, deputy chairpersons of regional executive committees, and the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Belarusian government’s press service reported.

In the 2026/2027 academic year, about 2,600 schools, gymnasiums and lyceums will operate in Belarus, with approximately 1.025 million students expected to attend.

Participants discussed the construction of new schools, routine and major repairs to existing ones, equipping them with modern facilities, upgrading school cafeterias and sports facilities, and ensuring safe conditions in schools.

Piatkevich also drew attention to the organization of sales of school supplies, as well as preparations for the school year for children from large and low-income families, children in guardianship and foster families, family-type children’s homes, and children officially recognized as being in socially dangerous situations.
