Senior Executive at Machinery Enterprise Accused of Taking Large Bribes

Belarus’s Investigative Committee has charged “one of the executives of a state-owned machinery enterprise.” The name of the enterprise has not been disclosed.

According to the investigation, the 63-year-old man received money and other property from a representative of foreign commercial companies. The payments were allegedly made in exchange for “facilitating the conclusion and execution of contracts for the supply of inventory items, as well as arranging the acceptance and storage of metal products at the company’s warehouses despite limited technical capacity, to ensure their subsequent payment by the enterprise.”

Among the bribes, the man allegedly received two high-end Audi cars. The total value of the illicit proceeds exceeded 200,000 Belarusian rubles. Authorities said they had secured the recovery of more than 260,000 Belarusian rubles in criminal proceeds. Assets worth more than 1 million Belarusian rubles belonging to the accused have also been frozen.
