Alyaksandr Lukashenka, during his official visit to Algeria, met with Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb. He said that Belarus is ready to cooperate with Algeria in many areas and urged more active investment in projects, arguing that money “means nothing”.

Lukashenka stressed the need to develop a roadmap for cooperation between Belarus and Algeria.

“We must definitely work out an absolutely functional plan for our relations and our actions. I understand very well what Algeria means for Africa. We cooperate with many countries of the African continent. Because the future belongs to Africa,” Lukashenka said.

He emphasized that Belarus is ready to work with Algeria across many sectors, including the defence industry.

“We are ready to provide you with technologies in mechanical engineering, petrochemicals, chemistry, agriculture, IT technologies. We are ready to cooperate with you in the sphere of the defence industry. In short, there are no closed topics in our relations,” he noted.

He invited Algeria’s prime minister and experts to visit Belarus to explore cooperation opportunities.

Lukashenka also urged investment in concrete projects.

“Money today, and even more so tomorrow, means nothing. You see what is happening. Terrible inflation in the world’s main reserve currencies. Life pushes us to invest, to put this money into concrete projects.

If the Algerian side wishes to cooperate with us (and I know it does — we have extensive experience of cooperation, primarily from the Soviet Union), we have this experience, and we need to use it and move in this direction, addressing the urgent tasks that concern your people and ours. We must hurry, we must rush. We cannot delay under any circumstances, the times are like that,” Lukashenka said.

Lukashenka also held a meeting with the speaker of Algeria’s National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali.
