Alyaksandr Lukashenka arrived in Algeria on an official visit on 2 December.
Immediately after landing, he met with the Speaker of the National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali.
Lukashenka said that trade between Belarus and Algeria should be significantly increased and promised that Minsk would not slow down the agreements, BelTA reported.
“The trade we have does not reflect the potential of our countries at all. We held a forum of business circles of Belarus and Algeria here and established direct ties between companies. I believe we will be able to significantly increase trade. We are people of our word and will strictly adhere to our agreements. There will be no delay on our part,” Lukashenka said.
According to the results of 2024, trade between the two countries amounted to more than USD 49 million, almost all of which was Belarusian exports.
Lukashenka noted that Belarus is a machine-building country with a developed agricultural sector and is ready to share with Algeria in many areas.
