Alyaksandr Lukashenka met today with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa. According to Lukashenka’s press service, Mnangagwa is in Belarus on a short working visit. The trip had not been announced previously.
Lukashenka’s press service said the meeting focused on the development of bilateral relations and the implementation of the 2026-2030 roadmap for strategic cooperation and partnership. Lukashenka reaffirmed Belarus’ interest in implementing joint projects, including with the involvement of other African countries. Promising areas include the creation of logistics corridors and the expansion of industrial cooperation. Humanitarian cooperation was also discussed.
According to ZimLive, Mnangagwa left Harare late on Wednesday evening. His departure was not accompanied by the usual ceremonies. For the trip to Minsk, he even skipped a farewell dinner held on Thursday for outgoing Chief Justice Luke Malaba. At the same time, a post appeared today on the Zimbabwean president’s social media accounts announcing Malaba’s successor. Elizabeth Gwaunza was appointed to the position.
