The staffing level at Dynama hockey club is inflated. This was stated by Aliaksandr Lukashenka at a meeting today, citing findings from an inspection by the State Control Committee.

“We need results. No results mean no progress, no work, and you will not be able to justify anything. But unfortunately, the State Control Committee had to step in instead of Balaba and Ivan Kubrakou and take a look at how many people are there and what exactly they do. How does this work?

And we keep complaining that we do not have enough people in manufacturing, workers, farmers and so on. Of course there will not be enough if you had 200 people involved with the team during the season, and how many full-time staff? Sixty-five or 45, if I remember correctly.”

“Fifty-six,” someone prompted him.

“Fifty-six! Have you lost your minds? Fifty-six people. Why? Finance staff, a press secretary. They needed to learn a song and so on. Use what already exists in the country. Go to Natallia Uladzimirauna. She is not going to play hockey, does not know how, and does not need to. But she can give instructions to anyone. The same Krutoi or Valfovich can give orders to anyone, and they will analyse things, help and so on. There is no need to keep a whole bunch of people doing work that is already done by others in the country who can be brought in to help.

Maybe you need some kind of coordinator? Well, Artsiom could be that person (Krakotski, Dynama director — editor’s note). He should be able to pick up the phone and say: ‘Dzmitry Yuryevich, you are a senator and an important person here, we need this, this and this.’ Can’t get a minister to organize it? Instead, we have created duplicate structures. What kind of disorder is this in the country? People should work directly where they are needed.

As many people tell me, I am now forced to deal with specific staffing tables, starting with my own residence and elsewhere. They keep saying this position is needed, that position is needed. I tell them: no. Everyone should work eight hours. Well, seven hours. Come in, work seven hours and go home. Then you will need five people, not 65. But instead we hear that this task and that task need doing. Kubrakou can do anything for anyone in this country in one minute: cut it off, fix it, smooth it over. But you did not involve him. You started creating parallel structures? There are people there who have absolutely nothing to do with economics, finance and so on, some of them older than me, and they have been given jobs there. How should that be understood?

And finally, Baskau admitted — I will not name names — that some of them, as he told me yesterday, do not do a damn thing there. Why did you not notice this for a whole year until the committee came in? Take your seats. These are just details so that you understand I am deeply immersed in this issue, and no one will be able to dodge responsibility — from the head of the administration and the deputy prime minister to the coach and the hockey player,” Lukashenka continued.

Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Natallia Piatkevich said that the State Control Committee and the Interior Ministry had been instructed to inspect all sports clubs.
