A Belarusian citizen presented a foreign passport to border guards while attempting to leave the country. As a result, she was denied exit and fined, the State Border Committee reported.
The woman was travelling from Belarus to Lithuania through the Kamenny Loh border crossing. When crossing the border, she presented a foreign passport, but under Belarusian law, Belarusian citizens are required to use national identity documents when crossing the Belarusian border. She was not allowed to leave Belarus and was fined.
Another Belarusian woman, who lives in Canada, entered Belarus from Lithuania on the same day and presented a passport that had expired two years earlier. The document was confiscated, and she was fined.
