Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said about 50,000 Ukrainian service members have been killed in the war, while Russia has lost 700,000 soldiers killed. He provided the figures in an interview with Fox News, published by the broadcaster.
According to Zelenskyy, Russia’s total military losses in the war amount to 1.6 million soldiers, including 700,000 killed.
Zelenskyy estimated Ukraine’s losses at about 50,000 service members killed.
“Honestly, I do not want to be too open about this because the Russians will understand what is happening with our army. We have about 50,000 military personnel killed and around 400,000 wounded. There is also a large number of missing persons,” Zelenskyy said.
Speaking about the situation on the front line, Zelenskyy stressed that Russia does not hold the initiative. “We are not losing, and they are not winning,” he said.
In February 2026, Zelenskyy said the official number of Ukrainian military casualties stood at about 55,000 service members killed.
