Aliaksandr Lukashenka has announced plans to establish a special centre dedicated to studying what he described as “the professions of the future.” Graduates of the joint Belarusian-Chinese biotechnology programme run by the Belarusian State University and Peking University could work there. His youngest son, Mikalai Lukashenka, studied in the programme.
Lukashenka spoke about the graduates’ future employment while talking to their parents after the graduation ceremony in China.
“The main thing is that they do not lose this drive and continue working. I will keep an eye on them to make sure they work properly. You should also make sure they do not go off track somewhere. They have done very well. It was not easy, everything was in English. I saw it myself. Perhaps not as closely as you did, but I followed it from time to time,” he told the parents.
Lukashenka described biotechnology as a profession of the future and announced plans to establish a special centre.
“It was a little easier for me to raise my own scientist; for you, of course, it was more difficult, so well done. You made the right choice. Biotechnology is the future. Bioengineering and similar fields are the future.
In the near future, we will create a special centre where we will train not only young people but also people of your age, if you wish and if you have the ability. We will not admit just anyone. We will teach three or four professions of the future. So it is possible that they will end up working there,” he said.
During the graduation ceremony, Lukashenka also said that graduates of the programme should work in Belarus.
