Against the backdrop of rising fuel prices caused by US and Israeli military actions against Iran, Lithuania has decided to reduce rail fares.
Passenger company LTG Link will halve ticket prices on domestic rail routes from April 1 to May 31, BNS reports.
According to Lithuania’s Transport Ministry, the budget cost of the measure will be €1.5 million. Passenger numbers are expected to increase by 200,000 people. The government expects the greatest effect on the Vilnius-Kaunas route, where a ticket will cost €5.
