The volume of loans issued for the purchase of Belarusian goods more than doubled in the first quarter. At the same time, the main increase was driven by car loans. This is stated in a report by the head of the Main Directorate for Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis of the National Bank of Belarus, Dzmitry Muryn, published in Banking Bulletin.

In January-March 2026, the volume of loans issued for the purchase of Belarusian goods increased 2.1-fold compared with the same period last year and reached 478.1 million Belarusian roubles.

As a result, the share of such loans in the total volume of consumer lending reached 12%. However, virtually all of the increase was generated by car loans. The volume of financing for purchases of Belarusian goods rose by 250 million Belarusian roubles over the year, of which 220 million Belarusian roubles accounted for loans for car purchases.
