On May 16–17, the “Festival of Hope,” organized by Belarusian Protestants — Evangelical Christians and Baptists — will take place at Chizhovka Arena. The main guest of the event is announced as prominent American Baptist preacher Franklin Graham. U.S. presidential envoy John Coale and his wife, journalist Greta Van Susteren, are also expected to attend the festival, Nasha Niva writes.
Graham heads the Samaritan’s Purse charity, with which Van Susteren cooperates. Graham calls Coale his friend and reposts on his social media Coale’s posts about his trips to Belarus and the release of political prisoners. He also took note of today’s exchange between Belarus and Poland.
“Thank you John Coale and President Donald Trump,” he wrote in a post responding to Coale’s message about the exchange.
According to the publication, Greta Van Susteren is planning to attend the May festival. It is possible that John Coale will come with her.
Coale said today that he plans to visit Belarus in two to three weeks and expects to secure the release of some political prisoners.
