Police in the Homiel region have reported on the first phase of Operation Illegal Migrant 2026, which took place across the region.
According to the Homiel Regional Executive Committee’s Internal Affairs Directorate, authorities carried out “inspections of locations with a high concentration of foreign nationals, residential properties provided to foreigners for short-term accommodation, and organizations employing immigrant workers.”
More than 400 violations of migration legislation were identified, including over 20 violations related to employment regulations.
“A significant number of violations were linked to foreigners residing in the country with invalid documents, failure to comply with registration and residence requirements, as well as evasion of departure from the country after the expiration of the permitted period of stay.
Decisions have been made to expel 19 foreign nationals from the country for grossly disregarding the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus,” the police said.
