Today, the floor and part of a wall in front of a stairway collapsed in the fourth entrance of a panel apartment building at 69 Bagration Street in Minsk. According to the official version of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the cause was the weakening of structural elements, which led to deformation of a floor slab.
Head of the Partizanski district administration Mikalai Paliakou said that relevant specialists had arrived at the scene and inspected the building. Reinforcing structures have been installed under the load-bearing slab. One of the entrances to the through-entry section of the building has been temporarily closed.
The Minsk City Executive Committee said that, according to the inspection results, evacuation of residents is not required. The emergency commission instructed the Belzhilproekt institute to issue a technical assessment on the construction and repair work needed. The work is expected to begin tomorrow.
As reported by Onliner, citing eyewitnesses, the entrance has been temporarily blocked from the courtyard side, with access obstructed by fiberboard panels. Residents are being allowed to enter only through the second exit, as the entrance is a through-entry one. Emergency services, коммунальные workers, and construction crews are operating at the scene.
