Belarus’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that Belarus was accepted into the Peace Council not because of money, but for its “experience, resilience, and political will.”
On January 29, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski commented on Belarus’s accession to the Peace Council and asked on social media platform X whether Minsk would pay $1 billion to rebuild Gaza. The official account of Belarus’s Foreign Ministry responded to the post.
“Some are invited for their money, others for their experience, resilience, and political will. Belarus knows what it brings to the table,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.
As a reminder, the Peace Council was officially established by Donald Trump on January 22. Initially, the organization was conceived to resolve the conflict in Gaza.
Trump sent invitations to join the Peace Council to 58 countries. Alyaksandr Lukashenka accepted the invitation among the first, but said he would not pay $1 billion for membership. He expects the council to also address the settlement of the war in Ukraine.
