European diplomats paid tribute today in Kurapaty to the victims of Stalinist repressions, the German Embassy in Belarus reported.
“Germany’s Chargé d’Affaires in Belarus, Katrin aus dem Siepen, together with representatives of other embassies, visited Kurapaty today to honor the memory of the victims of Stalinist repressions,” the statement said.
On the night of October 29–30, 1937, members of the Belarusian intelligentsia — including poets and writers — were executed by the NKVD in Minsk. Belarusians around the world hold commemorative events to mark the anniversary.
“Yesterday, the ‘Night of the Unshot Poems’ event was held at the Literary Colloquium Berlin, dedicated to the cultural and literary history of Belarus,” the embassy added.
