A Brest resident born in 1985, while under the influence of alcohol, got into someone else’s car and knocked over a nearby parked Yamaha motorcycle, the State Forensic Examination Committee said.

The evening before, the man had been drinking alcohol with his brother and decided not to return home. Instead, he planned to spend the night in a friend’s car parked near an apartment building. The vehicle was unlocked and the keys were inside. The man drove around the area near the building and then fell asleep. The next morning, he did not understand what had happened and went home.

As the investigation later established, the Brest resident had mistakenly gotten into someone else’s car rather than his friend’s. During the drive, he knocked over a parked motorcycle. The owner discovered it lying on the ground the following morning. The motorcycle’s frame, plastic components and exhaust pipe were damaged.

An expert from the Brest Region branch of the State Forensic Examination Committee assessed the damage at 1,370 Belarusian rubles. The man will have to compensate for the damage and also pay a fine for driving while intoxicated.
